2025 Quilt Square Contest
The Quilt Square Contest is a popular and integral part of the Maple Festival! Quilters of all ages and skill levels, from any state, are invited to participate in this no-fee contest.
Contest theme: Springtime in Vermont
Below are the details (including rules) for the 2025 Maple Festival Quilt Square Contest
Quilt square entries will be displayed during the Festival on March 22nd and a “People’s Choice” award will be given in each category. Later, the blocks will be made into a quilt and/or other items which will be raffled at the 2026 Maple Festival. There are only a few "rules" to follow:
1. Create a 13-inch square quilt block which features a “Springtime in Vermont” theme within the 12-inch square area. (The half-inch on all edges provides a seam allowance.)
2. Please, only one entry per participant.
3. Create the block from 100% cotton material.
4. Any quilt pattern, applique block or pieced block, hand or machine stitched, may be submitted.
5. The entry will be placed in one of two categories: appliqué block or pieced block. The
appliqué block category will include entries that use a 13-inch square of material to which another fabric has been added. The
pieced block category will include entries that use pieces of material to create a 13-inch square.
6. The completed block is due
March 17, 2025.
7. The block, along with the owner’s name, age, address, and phone number, may be:

8. All blocks submitted by adult entrants will become the property of The Town of Lunenburg Historical Society. Pieces by youth will be kept by permission only.
